Resources for the college application process

  • High school students should begin planning for college applications as early as they can.
  • Students should pay attention to test deadlines, financial aid deadlines, and application deadlines.

 

Tips and notes below to help with your essay

Applicants should describe their future goals in terms of college education and career in biology. The student may include the following: 

  • A little about yourself and your family background
    • Are you the first member of your immediate family to attend college? Or are you a first-generation family member to do so?
    • What are your favorite subjects in school? Why?
    • Do you have hobbies?
    • How do you spend your leisure time?
  • What experiences have you had that made you interested in biology?
  • Have you been a member of any STEM-related clubs during high or intermediate school? If yes, state the name of the club, your role, and level of involvement.
  • Do you have any awards in STEM-related subjects or activities? If so, name the award.
  • How do you see yourself using your biology degree in the future?
  • Feel free to include any other information you think is important for our consideration of your application.
