My high school GPA is lower than 3.0. Can I apply?

Yes. We may consider a slightly lower GPA.

My ACT or SAT score is lower than the BOSS II eligibility guidelines. Can I apply?

Yes. We may consider a slightly lower ACT or SAT. 

I plan to enroll in a dual-degree program at UWA. Am I eligible?

Yes, the BOSS II scholarship will cover you until you transfer to the other school you have been accepted. However, you must also obtain a degree from UWA.

Whom should I ask for a recommendation letter?

Ask for two letters of recommendation from a high school teacher. One of those teachers should be a science teacher. You should provide them with the link to submit your letter and ensure that they submit them before the deadline (April 15, 2024).

If I get the scholarship and change my major halfway through my bachelor’s to a non-biology degree, what will happen?

You will no longer be eligible for the scholarship.

Would receiving the BOSS II scholarship affect other financial aid I may be eligible for? 

The BOSS II scholarship will not affect your eligibility to other scholarships (such as Pell or trustee’s, band, etc.).

Are international students eligible? 

No, you must be a US citizen and a legal resident.

Will having a job during school affect my chance of getting and keeping the BOSS II scholarship?

No. However, we encourage students to stop working to pay for school and study more when possible. NSF funds this scholarship to reduce the burden of having to work after school.

If, for any reason, I transfer to another school, will the scholarship go with me? 

No, you must complete your degree at UWA.
